Online Documentary

I have finished my project-online documentary. According Transient Spaces subject’s request, the project online documentary is community. I chose the Elderly Chinese Association of Victoria. The reason that I chose this community, is because in the last few years, there has been a controversial issue debating for and against elderly Chinese, and their continual immigration to Australia.   Some people say that: The elderly Chinese migrants do not benefit Australia, rather, they bring with them a heavy burden to the whole Australian economy so the government should reduce the numbers of elderly migrants coming to Australia.  I felt it worth to know how these elderly Chinese migrants feel about their life situation in Australia. I went to the Elderly Chinese Association of Victoria. After interviewing some members, I found out this community is very interesting. There are English classes in the community, and the teachers are volunteer. Also there is a song-and-dance troupe in the Elderly Chinese Association of Victoria. They perform for the elderly in aged care facilities and for students in normal schools that teach Chinese. They want to do something to make some contributions to the Australian society. If you want to know more about my project, Please look at  my documentary.

Ellie wants some opinion for her project topic “Immigrant woman”. I think that migrants are different from locals and women are also different from men. I am a migrant and I am also a woman. I have five other girl friends, who are all immigrant women as well, we often meet together to discuss lots of things such as our life style and our future in a new country etc……This is my immigrant woman community,So I think that immigrant woman is a good topic.

I read betonbetts’s article: an inconvenient truth about blogging. I agree with most of his opinions. However some people want to publicize their own works through their own blogs. Like me I want to publicize my TV documentary and communicate with audiences, also to get feed back from them. So can you please link my blog? Then I hope I can get some of your comments.

I saw May’s blog. There is a picture about the T-shirt, a Chinese opera picture in the T-shirt, and I think she is Chinese. I wrote an article in my blog about Chinese women who work in the sex industry in Australia. I hope May can give me her opinions as a Chinese audience Also I’d like read more about May’s articles in her blog.

I’d like to apologize to pheona for my late reply. She seems to have been reading all the students blogs. She is a good student. I looked at her blog last night, I have actually got the same problem as hers. My professional job is to produce TV Documentaries, but with online documentaries I still have a lot I need to learn about. I’ve just finished all the interviews with my project recently (Name of the documentary is: Elderly Chinese Association of Victoria). The next challenge is how to use the software to upload my documentary online and design a good website, because I’ve never done that before. With my TV documentary I am going to be re-editing it to an English version next year and after finishing it I will let pheona know.

I agree with what Nimb said, that everyone has obsessions, I wrote my obsession in my bolg and I hope to get some opinions from Nimb

I read Stephani’s blog about youtube, and  sometime I browse around as well. I’ve got a question hoping Stephani would be able to give me some help. How can I upload my own TV documentary onto youtube? There are some introductions about my TV documentary in my blog.

After reading Kuan’s blog, I found he is quiet interested in politics and web design. I trackbacked one of his blog to recommend it to other people:  Bear@Melb » American Flag Blog

Why I produce documentaries fousing on new migrants

I received some feed back from audiences of which some asked me why I produce documentaries focusing on new migrants.     First I have the competitive edge in producing documentaries about Chinese living in Australia. I am a new migrant and now live in Australia. I have profound understanding about the Australian Chinese.

There are a lot of Chinese nationals who want to come to Australia. One of the main purposes is: let those who intend to or are preparing to come to Australia understand that it is not easy to find a specialty job in their fields even though they have professional skills, and they should think twice before making any decision and making sure it is worth it to come to Australia. Though the Australian government encourages skilled professionals and workers to come to Australia, the fact is that many of the skilled migrants failed to find jobs in their specialty fields. So the Australian government, at the same time encouraging skilled immigrants coming to Australia, should come up with ways to help and assist them in finding jobs in their fields so those new migrants can have a truly happy life in this land of bounty.

Introduction

I produced a 20 episode documentary “Australia Chinese New Migrants”, It has been showing on screen through Chinese TV station networks in China. Unfortunately they are all in Chinese language at this stage. But I’d still like to introduce a few episodes of the documentary below. There are also linked to the trailers of the documentary. Even though the trailers are in Chinese, but you will still be able to see the image of the documentary. However I am going to re-edit it to English version next year.

 The Milk Bars

It was based on stories about new Chinese migrants operating milk bars in Australia. The documentary talks about two types of new Chinese migrants with totally different backgrounds: one had a very good education and a very good job in China; the other did not attend much school back in China and does not understand much English at all. However, after arriving in Australia, they end up with the same destiny and the same job – becoming the owners of milk bars.

Mixed Nationality Marriages

A story of three women’s experiences in marrying outside of their own nationality. The outcomes have a mixed result, one marriage lasts 8 years and still coping with different cultures. Another marriage lasts only 3 years and the reason for divorce was blamed on the cultural differences. The last story is a happy one with the relationship working well and having a sound loving marriage.

An Artist in Australia

A successful Chinese artist arrives in Australia and had to resort to doing sketches on the streets to earn a living. Soon his talents are recognized and he is commissioned to complete portraits for “The Lord Mayor of Melbourne and “Princess Mary “ of
Denmark. He also was amongst the finalists for the prestigious “Archibald Prize” for art on 10 occasions and once as runner up. Pope John Paul also presented him with the Mary McKillop award.

Can you please give me your opinion?

I produced a documentary about Chinese people working in the sex industry in Australia. I wrote an article and published it in the Chinese newspaper recently, then it became a controversial subject. As a documentary director, I just depend on the truth and tell audience the real things. However some people consider the content of these type of shows, may influence on some people to get into the sex industry. Others think as to the documentary should explore the truth. Can you please give me your opinion, whether this documentary should be seen on the screen. I would appreciate response.  the controversial article Chinese Sexual Industry Comes under Spotlight in Australia in my blog
